The Wichita Mission Baptist Church was Established on April 18, 1908 with the name Sugar Creek Indian Baptist Church. The American Baptist Home Mission Society appointed the ordained George W. Hicks to be the first missionary among the Plains Indians. There were around 300 Cherokees in the  group at the time. During the 49 years of active ministry. Rev. and Mrs. Hick had a part in starting and advancing the work for the Wichita Mission Baptist Church. Through the years several Pastors and assisstant pastors have succeeded the Rev. Hick only to uphold the traditions and love for our Lord Jesus Christ.

On May 14, 2009 our lives were changed forever bt a F2 Tornado that set down in Anadarko. It  was by this tragedy that we lost our beloved church and Community Center.

I must work the works of Him who Sent me while it is day;  the night is coming when no one can work.  "As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."   John  9:4-5
